Cork Mary

Name: Eilish O'Sullivan
Age: 25
Representing: Cork
Occupation/Studying: Clerical Administrator
Brief History & Aspirations:

Dancing is Eilish's passion and she has a huge interest in the Country music scene in Ireland, travelling most weekends to see her favourite artists such as Nathan Carter, Derek Ryan and other well established artists in Ireland.

Eilish has a keen interest in TV Production and is involved part-time on a voluntary basis with the hugely popular Country music TV show classed 'Hot Country'. Eilish works full time at South Western in Clonakilty Co Cork. She is sponsored by this company who are market leaders in the provision of front and back office services in the areas of CRM, Finance & HR, Public Sector and Financial Services to leading public and private sector clients in Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Eilish is delighted to represent Cork and is looking forward to the experience and to making new friends.

Philadelphia Mary

Armagh Mary
Name: Moira Cahill
Age: 20
Representing: Philadelphia
Occupation/Studying: Student og Political Science at Rutgers University in New Jersey
Brief History & Aspirations:

Moira is a competitive Irish dancer with the Coyle School of Irish dance in Philadelphia for the past 15 years. She has received 2nd place in the Mid Atlantic Oireachtas in 2012, 6th place at the 2012 National Championships and she is a 6 time World Qualifier.

Moira is currently working in an Irish Pub in Philadephia City Centre. She studies Political Science at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She hopes to enter a program in Public Administration with a focus in International Public Service and Development, which would allow to her serve for 27 months in the Peace Corps. After receiving a degree in the Political Science field, she plans to get a job in that area. She hopes to work with people and have an opportunity to travel.

Moira enjoys reading, baking and travelling. She also has made the Deans List every Semester that she has attended college!

Móira is honored at the opportunity to be a part of the festival, and looks forward to representing the wonderful Irish community of Philadelphia.

Donegal Mary

Name: Katie Boner
Age: 19
Representing: County Donegal
Occupation/Studying: Studying Sculpture at the University of Limerick
Brief History & Aspirations:

Katie is currently studying Sculpture in the University and she also works part time in the Lobster Pot Restaurant in her home village of Burtonport.

When not in college or working she likes running and horse riding. She did her Leaving Cert in 2012 in the Rosses Community School and really enjoyed her years there.

After completing her four year course in Limerick School of Art and Design, Katie hopes to her H.Dip and become an Art teacher in a school in Donegal.

Katie would also like to volunteer in a foreign country for a year or two as it would be a great experience, especially in a third world country where she could teach the children English as well as Arts and Crafts that could potentially be a career for them by becoming skilled in certain local trades or crafts.

Dungloe Mary

Derry Mary Name: Annette Boyle
Age: 23
Representing: Dungloe Town
Occupation/Studying: Annette is Head Waitress in the Stepping Stone Bar Dungloe.
Brief History & Aspirations:

Annette completed her leaving cert in 2008 and she went on and studied Childcare for 2 years. After that she went to New York and waitressed there for 3 months. She really loved it over there but  came home again because she considers herself a home bird and missed Donegal way too much!

On returning to Dungloe, the Stepping stones and Bank Bistro had just opened and she got a job as Head waitress.

Annette aims to do a Hospitality and Management Course as she loves her new job and on a daily basis welcomes many bus tours into the Bank Bistro and Daniel O Donnell centre.

Edinburgh Mary

Name: Rebecca Neilson
Age: 21
Representing: Edinburgh
Occupation/Studying: Studying Family Law, Criminology and Gender and Justice at Edinburgh University.
Brief History & Aspirations:

Rebecca has just completed her third year in Family Law, Criminology and Gender and Justice at Edinburgh University. She also just completed an internship in a corporate law firm which really gave her an eye-opener into the coroprate world but Family Law interests her most.

Rebecca is a part time model who likes to keep fit with attending the gym and Zumba classes. 

Rebecca's Granny is 97 and originally from Keadue and Rebecca's first visit to Dungloe was 10 years ago when her sister Emma was the Edinburgh Mary.

Rebecca is honored and excited to be part of the festival and wants to make her Granny proud.

Oilean Mary

Inishowen Mary
Name: Áine Rodger
Age: 21
Representing: Oilean
Occupation/Studying: Primary School Teacher
Brief History & Aspirations:

Áine have just recently completed a 3 year Bachelor of Education course and is now a qualified Primary School Teacher. She trained in Marino Institute of Education in Dublin and will graduate later this year with an honours degree. Áine is currently on the lookout for a teaching post in a school anywhere in Ireland but would love to live close to her native Arranmore Island.

She have lived on Arranmore all of her life and both of her parents and their families are from there originally. Áine is very proud of where she comes from and looks forward to representing the island as the Oileán Mary! I enjoy travelling and meeting new people and also have a keen interest in reading.

Áine hopes to get a job as a teacher soon and to one day travel and visit different places all over the world! Áine has always loved spending time and working with children and hope to make a difference to the lives of children and to help them to achieve their own goals and aspirations in her future career as a teacher.

Glasgow Mary

Dungloe Mary
Name: Grace Sweeney
Age: 27
Representing: Glasgow
Occupation/Studying: Completed her Degree in Nursing
Brief History & Aspirations:

Grace has a strong family connection with the Rosses as both parents were born and brought up in the area.  Her mum is from Derrynamansher and her Dad is from Meenacross.  She has attended the festival every year as she always returns home to Meenacross and Dungloe to visit family and friends at this time.

She has embraced her Irish heritage and culture her entire life having been raised steeped in the Donegal Community of Glasgow’s Southside. 

She attended Irish Dancing classes from a young age and this inspired her to complete a professional qualification in Stage Dance and Musical Theatre.  She has used these skills in a variety of performances with amateur theatre groups at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal.  She also uses her musical talent to celebrate her love of Irish music as she sings on regular basis by invitation of local Irish bands in Glasgow’s Southside.

Having completed her dance studies she moved to Galway for a year to work in a Nursery with preschool children.  On her return to Glasgow she embarked on a Nursing Degree course at Glasgow Caledonian University which she has recently completed.

She loves working with people, especially the elderly, and she has found that my love of my Irish culture and heritage has provided her with invaluable insight in offering care and support to the patients she has worked with over the past few years.  She hopes to obtain a full time Nursing position and continue to offer quality care and support to people in their later years of life.

Brief History & Aspirations:

Ann comes a small town in Gweedore called Meenclady. and is the youngest of six.

Ann is huge GAA fan and it was a dream come true for her to see Donegal win the All Ireland last year. An is also a follower os Rallying and travels around Ireland to watch the sport. She is a big Jenkins fan!

She loves going for walks on her favourite beach, which is Magheraroarty and loves to spend time with her nieces and nephews.

When Ann completes her studies, she hopes to travel to places such as Africa and Chernobyl to volunteer. Each year Ann meets children from Chernobyl who visit Gweedore and Ann would love to know more about where they come from.

Letterkenny Mary

Representing: Letterkenny
Occupation/Studying: Graduate from liverpool Hope University
Brief History & Aspirations:

Jane hails from Letterkenny town and she has just graduated from the Liverpool Hope University with an Honours Degree in Education Studies with Disability Studies. Jane is currently taking a year out from her studies.

Jane curretnly works in INK Nightclub in Letterkenny on the Promotional Team. This brings Jane out into the community talking to people and promoting the Club. This has fueled her amibition to work with young people.

Jane has Grade 8 in speech and Drama and enjoys playing the piano. Sport has always been part of her life and she has several all-Ireland medals for Letterkenny Athletic Club and was member of Liverpool Hope Basketball Team. Other hobbies include going to the gym, swimming and spending time her family and friends.

Jane has done voluntary work with Destined, which empowers people with special needs to live independent lives and she is starting to volunteer in the Donegal Youth Center very soon. For teh future Jane hopes to continue on to study a Masters in youth work and gain a successful career with working with the young people of Donegal and Ireland.

Bayonne Mary

Name: Meghan O'Donnell
Age: 18
Representing: Bayonne New Jersey
Occupation/Studying: Business Management
Brief History & Aspirations:

Meghan is a recent graduate of Bayonne High School inBayonne, New Jersey.  In the fall she will be attending New Jersey City University to study Business Managemen.

Throughout Meghan’s high school career she was a captain of her high school soccer team and a member of the track team.  Other than sports she participated in the Drama Society and enjoyed working stage crew. Outside of school Meghan played club soccer for Arsenal Premier.  She has also spent four of her past summers as a camp counselor for Bayonne’s Ability Day Camp, working with campers who have special needs. Currently she is working part time in a business office for Servpro of Hoboken and Union City New Jersey.

Meghan comes from a big Irish family, she is the fifth of six children.  Although her family hasbeen in the United States for a few generations now, they have not forgotten where they come from.  Her family’s roots hail from County Donegal, County Mayo and County Cork.

Meghan is extremely excited and proud to be representing the Irish community in Bayonne in this years festival!

Name: Aisleigh Monagle

Occupation/Studying: Business Student
Brief History & Aspirations:

Aisliegh has Irish roots that lie both with her mother and father. Her father is from Donegal and her mothers parents are from Cork and Limerick. She loves getting back to Ireland to visit her friends and family and tries to make it back at least three times a year!

Aisleigh has 12 GCSES and A-C includeing 3A*. She had just finished her A levels in a top London girls school and has carried on at college to further her studies in business. She chose business because it covers a lot of academic subjects such as English, law and politics.

Outside college she is a very creative person who loves reading and writing, going to art galleries and going to see plays and performing in some herself. She has been offered acting opportunities but has turned them down to focus on her education

Aisleigh is working in a restaurant which she loves because she loves talking to people and making sure they are having a good time!

Her life ambition is to help and inspire people. She loves children and would love to be a teacher and help people achieve their dreams. As a creative person she would love to express herself through teaching and in her spare time would love to write reviews and plays. She wants to take up mounting climbing as she thinks it is a very challenging sport that would certainly test yourself mentally and physically.

Aisliegh wants to be just like Kate Middleton because she is her generations Lady Diana and she really looks up to her in everything she does.

Maria has completed Bachelor of Arts in English and Irish and is currently studying for a Masters in journalism. She enjoys swimming in the Atlantic and walking the scenic Gaoth Dobhair countryside.

Brief History & Aspirations:

Fiona has recently graduated in May with a Bachelors of Science in Health Services Administrations from Marywood University. Graduated with Honors and on the Deans list! Fiona plans to further her education by becoming a registered nurse and start taking classes in September.

Fiona is currently employed with the New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene program specialist and part time waitress.

Fiona is a keen runner who ran the Philadelphia marathon in November and another half marathon in October.

Fiona aspires to eventually get her RN licence and would love to work in the ICU and then somewhere down the line go into geriatrics. She feels that working in hospices and with the disabled were the most rewarding jobs she has ever had.

Brief History & Aspirations:

Kelly is very interested in all the latest fashion and she finds the lives of celebrities intriguing and fascinating. She loves music and attending concerts with her friends.

Kelly loves volunteering and has volunteered at her school this year through peer tutoring 1st and 2nd year students, some of which have learning difficulties.

Kelly is always very interested in the topic of integration and has taught classes on integration during an integration week organised by her school.

Occupation/Studying:Music Graduate
Brief History & Aspirations:

Meghan is a graduate of The Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins and The Boyer College of Music at Temple. Meghan holds two degrees, in Harp & Vocal Performance and also a Master's in Vocal Performance. Meghan has received many pretigious awards for her Vocal Performances!

Meghan currently works as a Harpist and Vocalist, Private Music Teacher and Church Musician.

This busy lady still finds time for lots of hobbies including; tennis, cycling, baking and of course supporting the Phillies!

She is very proud of her Irish roots, mum is from Cork and Dad is from Mayo. She is delighted and honoured to be representing Phillidelphia, and is looking forward to the whole experience.

Meghan is our winning 2012 Mary from Dungloe. Meghan epitomises what it is to be a Mary from Dungloe: Beautiful, Charming, Graceful & Talented. She will with no doubt be a wonderful ambassador for Dungloe.

Brief History & Aspirations:

Marie-Claire is currently studying Law with French at University of Ulster. She loves travelling, and learning about different cultures and languages. She is a part of the 'Open your Mind' group in her University which promotes mental health awareness in students and young people.

A member of a cheerleading team, Marie-Claire also loves socialising, meeting new people and new challenges! She loves the Mary from Dungloe International festival and can't wait for all the fun it's sure to bring!
